Full Moon Fireside Chat about First Light

Occasionally, on full moons, we offer our community the chance to gather around the fire at Knoll Farm, to watch the full moon rise, and to talk about something specific that inspires us and gives us hope.  This full moon on August 9, Peter and Otto will talk about First Light, an ambitious collaboration that they work with that connects all of us living in Northern New England into a generational opportunity to rebuild right relations with Wabanaki communities.

First Light is a co-creation between hundreds of leaders, Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet and Mi’kmaq Nations working together with 65 nonnative land-holding organizations to return land, money, and decision-making to Wabanaki communities. We are stronger together: many organizations might be able to achieve what one organization could not. One result of this collaboration today is the largest private land return in North America:  the return of over 50,000 acres over 11 separate landscapes benefitting Wabanaki wellbeing across all five of their communities.

On August 9th, we’ll tell stories about why the work matters so much to us, what we’ve learned, and how we’ve been changed by it.  The evening is a free public offering, but space is limited, so please register by emailing Emma (emma@knollfarm.org) your name and the names of any others who’ll be joining you.
